Team/division description

           

Body Engineering Division is part of Toyota’s European R&D Centre. Body Engineering Division is responsible for the Design and Development of predominantly Upper Body components on the majority of new Toyota vehicles manufactured and sold in Europe. This includes key areas such as body shell & closures, exterior components and glazing, lamps, interior components and trim, the IP, seats & seat belts, functional body parts, and underbody shell components. The Advanced Body Development Team is a situated within the Body Engineering Division, and focuses on research and pre-development into exciting new areas of technology, applicable to these vehicle body components.

“Carbon neutral and circular economy technologies for vehicle body parts design, and their possible applications on lightweight, user-centric, mobility vehicles”

 

Currently the Advanced Body Development Team has a project which focuses on the sustainability enhancement of Toyota vehicle designs. This activity has components related to the study of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), the usage of recycled materials (circular economy), and the investigation of components which utilise natural materials such as bio-plastics and natural fibres including their design and performance.

Your profile

  • You are fluent in English (TME’s business language)
  • You have an engineering related background
  • You have an interest in and a good grasp of material specifications, the principles of part design, methods of part production, the performance requirements of vehicle parts, and the vehicle as a whole.
  • You’re able to manipulate and modify 3D data in CATIA (experience in making CAE simulations in CATIA environment is a positive)
  • You’re a motivated and inquisitive candidate, who excels at grasping new concepts;
  • You are proactively driven to seek out and understand fully new engineering technology & methods, in order to investigate their limits and potential applications;
  • You have a thorough level of organisation and documentation;
  • You have a keen eye for presentation of your results.

Due to business requirement, not all performed projects can be reflected in the internship report. This issue needs to be discussed with candidate/school in advance.

 

It is mandatory that applicants are students for the entire period of the internship.

 

We can only accept students with an EEA or Swiss citizenship (not requiring a work permit or visa to be eligible to perform an internship in Belgium)
